Matt Hedden

Market Leader

Matt began his career with Kimmel & Associates in 2015 in the Heavy Civil Division. His excellence was recognized quickly — in 2016, he was named Kimmel & Associates’ Rookie of the Year. He has built strong relationships with high-level clients and candidates through his dedication and exceptional service. In 2024, Matt transitioned to our Electrical Division, serving the Northeast market.

Matt earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Management from Western Carolina University. After graduation, he went to work for his father as a Body Repairman, Head Painter, and Assistant Office Manager.

He enjoys spending time with his wife and children, outdoor activities, sporting events, and country music.

We sat down with Matt and asked him the following:

  • What do you like most about working at Kimmel & Associates?
The reputation we have in the industry. I have spoken to many folks who say they don’t talk to any recruiters other than Kimmel because of the way we do things.
  • What is one thing you learned early in your career that has made you successful?
I learned that the service we offer is real – we can really change people’s lives. I think this helped me because I’m not just selling something. There is real value in what we do, both for individuals and our clients.
  • What can clients and candidates expect from you?
Honesty. I think this is a big part of what sets Kimmel apart as a whole.
  • Describe a successful placement or the most rewarding experience in your career.
My favorite placement story was with a small civil contractor, where it almost fell apart at the last moment. We ended up figuring everything out, and the gentleman has grown the business tremendously. He’s now their top decision-maker and my hiring authority.
  • Do you have a favorite book or movie?
My favorite book Is Lonesome Dove. I love westerns, and the storytelling in the book is second to none. Favorite movies are Open Range and Goodfellas.
  • Personal interests?
I love spending time with my wife and kids doing anything. They love being on the water – lake, beach, or just the pool. I also enjoy outdoor activities – fishing, hunting, golfing, etc.
